Telah menghadiri perbincangan di atas bersama Tuan Pengarah pada jam 2.30 petang di Bilik Senat. Pembentangan oleh Prof. Halimah Badioze Zaman dari FTSM. Tujuannya ialah untuk membuat penyelidikan bersifat multidisciplin berkaitan dengan Content Base Informatics.
Komen dari VC, the niche should draw people from other faculties. Discussion participants agreed to create three clusters: (1) fundamental, (2) application or applied products, and (3) services.
Prof Halimah's intro highlighted some interesting global trends:
(1) Companies that changed the world: East India Co (1600), IBM (1889), Disney (1923), Intel (1968), Microsoft, Apple (1976), eBay (1995) and Google (1998), quoting Jonathan Mantle (2008).
(2) Steve Job bought Pixar at USD 10 mil, then sold it to Walt Disney for USD 7.4 billion. Pixar's technology is used in films such as Bug's Life, Toy Soldier, Finding Nemo etc.
